El Río Cares

Tomé muchos photos cuando caminamos en las montañas el martes pasado. Este lugar se llama "La Garganta de Cares." El agua del río es muy limpio, como el agua en las montañas de Canada, y me gustan las cascadas mucho. Es muy guapo, ¿no?

Semana 1: Una experiencia...

¡Todos en España son fantásticos! Me gusta la comida, la gente, y las montañas mucho. Mi familia de España es muy simpática, especialmente cuando no les entiendo. Ayer fue el Martes de Campo, un celebración de Oviedo. Fui con mi familia española a León para andar en las montañas. Manejamos muchas horas, y almorzamos en un lugar se llama “El Chorco de los Lobos.” Después de comer, fuimos al Caín, un pueblo pequeño entre de las montañas grandes. La caminata era muy buena, pero llovió mucho. La trocha era por túneles en la montaña mucho, y a cerca de la trocha, había muchas cascadas guapas. Veíamos muchas cabras en la montaña también. Mi familia y yo andamos en las montañas mucho en Utah, y me gusta mucho, pero mi padre de España no lo sabía. Él no pensaba que yo puedo andar paras muchas millas y puedo andar un poco rápido, yo creo. Al fin de la caminata, él estuvo fatigado, pero yo no. Después de todo, nosotros volvimos a casa, pero nos perdimos y llegamos a casa a las diez y media de la noche. No me gustó.

¡Tres días!

Three days before I take a hop, skip, and a jump onto my flight to Oviedo! I am over-the-top excited, but as is predictable in these situations, I am also getting extremely nervous.

When I first began classes at the University of Utah, I was planning on minoring in Spanish. However, I discovered that trying to get a Spanish minor while pursuing a Biomedical Engineering major and a minor in music just wasn’t going to happen in four years. I’m hoping that studying abroad this summer will kind of serve as a crash course in the language, and that I’ll be able to partially make up for my lack of Spanish minor-ness.

I've never taken a Spanish class at the University; I took four years of the language in high school, and that is it. Needless to say, I am most worried about the language, but with help and patience from others, I'm sure I'll learn quickly. I'm not super nervous about the culture shock. I've spent a bit of time in many other countries throughout the years, in England and around Europe, Peru, South Korea... oh, and Canada. I absolutely love learning about other cultures, and I'm more excited than anything to learn the Spanish way of life. Here's to not being a tourist!
